Ur Favorite Movies that u would recommend others

My Favorite Movies are:
Face/Off, I Am Legend, LOTRx3, National Treasurex2, Pirates of the Caribbeanx3, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal, Scarface, Spider-manx3, Stardust, The Bournex3, Transformers, Wanted, What Happens in Vegas

I like a lot of those movies you listed! I need to watch the last two Bourne movies tho, I've only see the first. Stardust is so fun too! lol. and of course who doesn't love the LOTR and POTC movies.

hum, I have to name these two because they are my favorite movies in the world! First, FF VII Advent Children - and Moulin Rouge! lol.
I'm probably one of the few people here that enjoy the Resident Evil movies, but I think they're good, at least good compared to the bad rep they seemed to get.
I Robot is one of my fav Will Smith movies, (I am Legend was good as well).
I like the HP movies, but as everyone knows the books are much better.
I could name a ton more, but I won't bore you with all my pixar and disney favs, or the other 50 dvds I own.

For me, The Matrix, the Lord of the Rings trilogy and 5 Centimeters per Second are absolute must sees.

My favs are:

The Matrix trilogy (yes i do like the second 2 as well)
The Star Wars saga (although of course i like the original trilogy the best)
The Underworld series
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Pitch Black
The Blues Brothers
Hudson Hawk
And virtually every movie made by Studio Ghibli

Oh, I loved the visual style of Underworld. The setting, the clothing, the colors, ...
I also liked all 3 parts of the Matrix. I guess most people just don't understand the endless number of references in it.

I know, i never understood why so many people bagged parts 2 and 3 of The Matrix. Yeah Underworld really does have a great style i'd call it modern gothic.

the underworld movie was good, didn't like the second one as much tho.

Um I like the first matrix a lot, the second one just wasn't as good, and third would have been good if the ending wasn't so...

I loved underworld evolution just as much as the first, i can't wait for the upcoming prequel and then the final sequel.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans which is the prequel will be out early next year and the release date for next sequel hasn't been announced yet.

and I think the main thing about the second one I didn't like was the random sex scene... ("oh we're hurt and hiding, lets do it!")and the topless vampire woman at that one guys place. Completely useless- things my eyes had no desire to see- the over all movies are just fine without that stuff, lol.

lol Higure you sound like my grandma. I disagree i think the nudity actually played a part in both those places (even though it wasn't actually nudity as they didn't show anything).

The sex scene was the first time they really expressed there pent up love for each other, they hadn't really expressed it to each other before so in the end it all just build up and they couldn't control themselves anymore.

Also the topless vampire women served a purpose. To show us that that vampire guy (i forget his name) was living in luxury and that he was a bit of a pig.

I don't see how the nudity hurt. Those weren't cheap porn scenes or anything. I wouldn't have thought any less of the movies if that would have been male nudity either, even though I do not particularly enjoy looking at naked men.

Exactly you've just got to see it as part of the story. It was the same in the matrix reloaded with the sex scene, i've heard a few people say it was unnecessary but i think it was necessary to show us just how much they loved each other but don't really have the time to be with one another.

eh, I saw no purpose in it. My personal belief is movie can be just as good without showing nudity, or staying on a sex scene, whether they show anything during it or not, for minutes and minutes... its awkward, show a few seconds, be done, we got the point. And of course the topless woman showed that he was a pig and lived a life of luxury, could that have not been expressed with some sort of small top on the many woman he had in his bed? seriously, movies can get their point across without pointless nudity or awkward sex scenes.

thats all. And I'm not like, bashing the movies for it, it just made the experience of watching the movie less... enjoyable. lol.

You sound like you really hate nudity Higure lol, what do you have against it?

I don't see a sex scene and think "oh its a sex scene" i just see it as another part of the story. Same with nudity i don't go "oh yes nudity" again i just see it as another part of the story.

hate is a strong word, wish it wasn't in movies and anime, yep, definately. lol.

Probably has to do with my up bringing, and it just makes no sense to me, make the point clear, thye're doing it, good for them, don't leave us sitting here, listening to them moan and breath for 5 minutes. Sex isn't something you just LET people sit in and watch while you're doing it in real life, so why do people want to sit in movie theaters and watch it. it makes no sense and it could be done without it.

There was a lot more to the sex scene in the Matrix, just like there is an incredible amount of symbolism in the whole trilogy...
The first film was a lot about mentally projected images. The mind. In the second film there are bodies. The whole party is a huge celebration of the flesh. The elemental contrast that distinguishes the people from the machines. The sex scene was an affirmation of the bodily traits. The ultimate form of protest against the machine world carried out by the most prominent icons of mankind. Neo, who symbolizes Jesus, son of god who became human and descended to earth, and Trinity - the trinity. It was just the peak of the whole huge celebration of humanity - the whole huge party.
It is a huge allusion to tantric spirituality where neither men nor women can get enlightenment (here: total seperation from the machine world and seeing "the one" - being set free by the symbol of humanity). Some tantric school say that you have to have sexual union in order to unite in a binding way that will allow you to overcome your ego and seperateness. (Yes, I am partially quoting "The roots of the Matrix" here.) They are celebrating physicality. Exactly what they seem to have been deprived of all of during all of the time where they were locked inside the matrix and seeing the artificial world manufactured by machines to enslave them.
The whole party down there is a public celebrated sacrament where they are all equal. Neo and Trinity aren't part of the uniform crowd. They go private, they are celebrating the physicality privately and above the dancing crowd. What they do is on a whole higher level. It's two divine figures pushing the sacrament of the physical masses to the extreme. This is also dangerous, because that way they aren't fighting for the group anymore, but for the individual they love. It's the whole "her vs. survival of humanity" thing Neo has been having to choose between. If Gnosticism is about freeing yourself from those attachments, Neo fails at that. Hard.

In short: It's an allusion to motives of tantric spirituality, a scene that bears a lot of symbolism regarding the film itself and employing some minor motives from christianity.

lol, I wasn't saying anything about Matrix(the matrix scene may have had a purpose, but it still didn't make me wanna watch it.) I just fast forward through the stuff I don't wanna see anyway. including that part of the matrix, and the sex scene in underworld. If I hated nudity THAT much I wouldn't own the RE movies, would I? lol. I just wish it wasn't there.

Higure movies aren't real life they're just that, movies. They're shown (for the most part) to try and pull us deeper into that world.
This isn't the 1930's sex isn't a taboo subject, like you said "they're doing it, good for them" we shouldn't see sex or nudity as something that shouldn't be talked about. You looked at that scene and said something like "why are they showing us this it's disgusting looking at other people do it" i looked at it and just saw another scene in the movie.
It's not real life so i don't see how it's disgusting or wrong, i think people should become desensitized to sex/nudity on tv and in movies, they're jut movies.

Max (or anyone else who is interested ^^), if you want to know more about the actual depth of the rabbit hole of the Matrix, i.e. the whole philosophy behind it and all those philosophical and religious images in it, I also strongly recommend watching "The roots of the Matrix". It's 1 hour full of background information like that. ^^

I know you didn't Higure that's just what i "read between the lines" lol. I think we're gonna have to agree to disagree here. I think it's got an important place in the visual medium, you think it doesn't . What do you think about sex scenes in novels? and im not talking about romantic novels or the like i've read many sci-fi and fantasy books that have scenes in them.

Besides with a book or something its not like you're looking at REAL people, lol, even if movies are movies, it really is that actor and actress you're watching doing it-(even tho they're pretending, but thats why they're actors, its quite real looking after some editing and stuff).
